Opening! Finally!
After worked about one month prepared for this exhibition, the ‘it’ time has came. Yes. Opening. It’s my first exhibition project with numerous participants; 108 and about 140 artworks. Past exhibition, Nippon Artfest, was also joined by numeorus participants, but the art organizer from Japan had managed it, they rent our space only. I just prepared for opening ceremony as they wanted to but it also backbreaking too, all request were by last minute. Hehe.. but by that experience, managed SDI NOW exhibition felt much relaxing

Most stressful moments was when I tried to collected all participants data for catalog while the SDI Bali committees were a bit ‘gabeng’ (sorry, I can’t find right word in English) gave me the data. Hm..but it was my fault too to not confirmed to them about total participants for this exhibition. It’s for my learning in the future. Oh, back to catalog, to make catalogs in large number, the printing needs about 7 – 10 days to finished then. usually at the end of the year printing house is full order. Finally by last minute the catalogs and invitations could finished right at the time! Fiuhhhhh….

Then..challange no. 2. Find a commissioner to open the exhibition. It was SDI Bali committees’ request. First plan is Bali Governor and Ong Hoei Djien. A letter was sent to Bali Governor office. Then the mistake was happened… After one week we called Bali Governor office to asked the answer of our letter. The officer said the month was wrong! I typed the exhibition was opened by November 30 whereas December 30. ok, it’s not totally my mistake, my boss who signed on the letter also missed the month (hehe…) So we resent a letter. Hm…do you believe in destiny? mate? I wouldn’t storytelling the detail but eventual the governor couldn’t opened the exhibition. Then by last minute (again) we could convince Denpasar Mayor to open our exhibition with help of Pak Agus! Huahhh… thanks to Pak Agus.. Oh! I nearly forget On Hoei Djien, he sent email few days later (after we sent him) that he couldn’t open the exhibition.

Day 0
The day has came. display? done. caption? done. catalog? done. guest book? done. rundown ceremony? done. catering? done. It’s 5 o’clock and I took a shower. The opening started at 7pm. I had two more hour. The MC would come at 6 pm. I would give him the rundown and give a fast briefing. I hoped he was bright-enough. I got him from my friend.. At the end of the year it’s pretty hard to find a MC (who gladly came to Ubud ;p) hehe… I found one.

Then after dressing (I wore kebaya, blue-peacock-colored kebaya, one of my fav color)
I went off from the office toward opening-ceremony-spot-will-be. Thanks God the rain slowly stopped. Plan A was opening at outdoor in front of gallery B. Plan B (if rain wouldn’t compromise) we would hold opening ceremony inside gallery B but actually it’s too small. Gallery A was bigger but echoed.

7pm
Mayor Denpasar came right on time. The opening ceremony began. Speech speech speech… did anyone listening to their speech? I don’t think so. they came here to saw the artwork and for opening food. Hm.. we ordered Ny Warti Buleleng, the most famous catering for local people in Bali (at least for now ;p). It’s raining season and everyone seems had bigger desire to eat than usual. Hehe… Photo..photo..photo… ribbon cut… and… finally SDI NOW opening ceremony has finished! Yippeeee As soon the crowded fulfill the gallery and queue for the food.

I always felt like a big stone that I always carried everywhere before an exhibition opening ceremony begin has gone. I felt like a cotton.
That night I felt tired but I could slept well. My mission (today)? DONE. ;P
